The Voluntary Transport Group continues to be very busy taking people with sight and mobility problems to attend hospital and clinic appointments.

Our drivers take them to their appointment, wait with them and then return them home. The patients are incredibly grateful for the service offered and if it were not for the kind volunteer drivers many would not be able to keep their appointments.

The drivers find the work very fulfilling and are happy to be able to put something back into the community. Drivers are reimbursed for their petrol expenses at the rate of 45p per mile and are issued with identity windscreen badges. Most of the hospitals we visit have allocated us designated parking bays.

If anyone feels able to give some time to drive our disadvantaged clients to their appointments, we should be very pleased to hear from them. It does not have to be a big commitment and a couple of hours occasionally would be much appreciated.
