Many people who are not interested in religion are fascinated by Jesus. How did this one man, living over two thousand years ago, shape empires, influence legal systems and inspire some of the greatest art and architecture? Who was he and how does his message still influence the lives of around two billion people worldwide?
During July and August we are going to be looking at this question in more detail in the sermons at St Mary's. Each Sunday we are going to be considering how Jesus is reported by the historian Luke and consider what he did, what he taught and how his earliest followers lived out his teaching.
Was Jesus gentle or aggressive? Was he a rule follower or a rule breaker? Was he a friend of the establishment or subversive? Who followed him and why? We hope to post some of the talks on the web site as well as notes for further reflection. We are also running discussion groups for people who would like to learn more.
