Whatever is important to us will get our attention, our time and our energy. I have friends who are absolutely committed to their football teams. They will spend a fortune on season tickets, and will arrange all their activities so that they never miss a home game. After every game they will study the papers and will know all the key statistics for each player.
If football is really important to some, how important should the development of our faith be? Can we be as committed as the most enthusiastic fan? Lent is a season when Christians can take steps to develop and grow their faith. This year we are hosting a Lent course called 'Season of renewal'. Study groups will meet in homes around the parish, enabling us to explore prayer, faith, the Holy Spirit and the role of church in society.
During the service on Ash Wednesday these home groups will be commissioned and will then meet once a week for six weeks until Easter. Everyone is welcome. You don't need to be a churchgoer to join in. Football fans are especially welcome—you can inspire us with your commitment. Please contact the parish office to let us know what day and time would suit you best: 929 1537 or admin@bowdonchurch.org.
