St Mary's, Bowdon has a very fine peal of eight bells which are rung for the 10.45 am and 6.30 pm services on Sundays, and for weddings and celebrations. Our band of about 15 ringers is very friendly and of very mixed experience, from beginner to deep expert. We are affiliated to the Central Council of Church Bell Ringers http://www.cccbr.org.uk/
There is a network of bell ringers across the country (and some abroad). We welcome visiting ringers to our Tower – and they welcome us to theirs. It is a sociable activity!
We lose ringers to university and fresh pastures, so we need a few new ringers every year. We would welcome you especially if you have rung before, but if you haven’t we can show you around and see if it takes your fancy. We have taught boys and girls as young as ten, those who have retired – and those hard at work who need to concentrate on something different.
We meet to practise at the tower on Thursdays at 8 pm.
